American Association of University Women
American
Council of Learned Societies
- a private non-profit federation of sixty-seven national scholarly
organizations. The mission of the ACLS, as set forth in its
Constitution, is "the advancement of humanistic studies in all
fields of learning in the humanities and the social sciences and the
maintenance and strengthening of relations among the national
societies devoted to such studies."
American Philosophical Society

the Society promote useful knowledge by maintaining five major
grant or fellowship programs in a wide range of fields. The Franklin,
Phillips,
and Library
Fellowship programs award small grants for modest research purposes
while the Sabbatical
Fellowship programs award much larger grants in highly selective
competitions. Awards are made for
research only. The Society makes no grants for academic study
or classroom presentation; for travel to conferences or workshops;
for non-scholarly projects; for assistance with translation or the
preparation of materials for use by students.
ArtsLink
- supports exchange between artists and arts organizations in the
United States and in Central/Eastern Europe, Russia and Eurasia
through a competitive annual selection process.
Asian
Cultural Council - The Asian Cultural Council
supports cultural exchange between Asia and the United States in the
performing and visual arts, primarily by providing individual
fellowship grants to artists, scholars, students, and specialists
from Asia for study, research, travel and creative work in the
United States. Some grants are also awarded to Americans engaged in
similar activities in Asia and to arts organizations and educational
institutions for specific projects of particular significance to
Asian-American cultural exchange. In addition, the Council awards a
small number of grants in support of regional exchange activities
within Asia.
Association for the Sociology of Religion
- In honor of Joseph H. Fichter, the ASR offers grants for research
on women and religion as well as other topics that also figured
prominetly in his research. Awards are made annually on the
basis of competitive proposals submitted to a rotating committee of
Association members. ASR
membership is required for consideration. |
