American Association of University Women - Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowship and Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grant.   Deadline:  November 15.


Institute for Advanced Study Research Grants - Deadline:  November 15.

 

The German Marshall Fund of the United States - Research fellowships that deepen understanding, promote collaboration, and stimulate exchanges of practical experience between Americans and Europeans.  Project normally must includes transnational comparisons and the transfer of experience and innovations.  Projects must also include a plan for disseminating ideas and results.  Deadline:  November 15.

 

Princeton University Council of the Humanities Fellowship - Deadline:  November 15.

 

Stanford Humanities Center Fellowships - Deadline:  November 15.

 

Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation (WWNFF) - Career Enhancement Fellowships for Junior Faculty funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by the WWNFF; program seeks to increase the presence of minority junior faculty members, and other faculty members committed to eradicating racial disparities, in core fields in the arts and sciences. Amount:  $30,000.  Deadline:  November 28.

The American Philosophical Society - Franklin Research Grants are designed to help meet the costs of travel to libraries and archives for research purposes, the purchase of microfilm, photocopies or equivalent research materials, the costs associated with fieldwork, or laboratory research expenses. The Society does not pay overhead or indirect costs to any institution, or costs of publication. Deadlines:  December 1 for an April decision.


Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships (Postdoctoral) - Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships are designed to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.  Deadlines:  December 15,  2005 for an April 2006 decision.

Princeton University Shelby Cullom Davis Center for Historical Studies
- Visiting Fellowships at the Davis Center may run either for one semester, September-January or February-June; or for the full academic year from September-June.  Deadline:  December 1.

Social Science Research Council - Most support goes to predissertation, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowships, offered through annual competitions. Some programs support summer institutes and advanced research grants. Although most programs target the social sciences, many are also open to applicants from the humanities, the natural sciences, and relevant professional and practitioner communities.  Deadline:  December 1.

Virginia Center for Humanities Foundation - The Resident Fellowships Program sponsors exploration of subjects in history, culture, ethics, philosophy, religious studies, and other disciplines, as these illuminate topics and problems of current and abiding public import. The Fellowship Program conducts and funds humanities research, education, and public programs.  Fellowships provide a stipend of between $15,000 and $17,000 per semester; summer Fellows receive less.  Deadline:  December 1.

University of Utah, Tanner Humanities Center - Through the research fellowship program, the Tanner Humanities Center seeks to encourage, support, and disseminate important humanistic research. Each fellow will spend one year or one semester during 2004-2005 conducting research full-time, in residence at the Center. In addition, fellows will present Work-in-Progress talks throughout the year.  Deadline:  December 1.

Harvard University Program in Ethics and the Professions - The University Center for Ethics and the Professions encourages teaching and research about ethical issues in the professions and public life. Its resident Faculty Fellowships support outstanding teachers and scholars who wish to develop their ability to address questions of moral choice in such areas as business, education, government, law, medicine, and public policy.  Faculty normally receive stipends of up to one half of their academic year salaries (not exceeding a maximum set each fall) for the fellowship period September 1 to June 30.  Deadline:  December 1.

Brown University, Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women - Postdoctoral Fellowships.  Deadline:  December 12.

Oregon State University, Center for the Humanities - The Center for the Humanities, established at Oregon State University in 1984, is an interdisciplinary research center that grants Fellowships to visiting U.S. and international scholars as well as faculty from OSU. The resident research Fellowships, awarded for one to three terms, provide a stipend as well as a comfortable office, computer, and support services.. Deadline:  December 12.

Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships, Inc. - promotes international understanding and productivity through the exchange of information, ideas, and perspectives among emerging leaders throughout the world. The program brings outstanding professionals who are rising leaders in their countries to the United States and sends their American counterparts abroad, with a custom-designed program for each participant.  Deadline:  Varies.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers Advanced Research Fellowships - Deadline:  December 31.
